FS visits Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai (with photos/video)

The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, visited the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai (MOCA Shanghai), before rounding up his visit to Shanghai and heading for Harbin (May 16).

Mr Tsang was greeted by Mr Samuel Kung, Chairman and Director, MOCA Shanghai. He gave Mr Tsang a tour in the museum showcasing contemporary works of art.

MOCA Shanghai is one of the Gold Sponsors of Hong Kong's participation in the Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo). Apart from it, 26 sponsors have also joined the sponsorship programme so far. Contributions by sponsors involve more than $38 million in cash and kind.

MOCA Shanghai is the venue of "Arts‧Travel‧Two Cities" dance performance on June 12 and "Legacy and Creations - Art Vs Art" Exhibition from October 15 to November 12. These are two of the HKSAR programmes for Shanghai Expo.

"Arts•Travel•Two Cities" will offer a series of site-specific dance pieces created by students of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts School of Dance.

On the other hand, "Legacy and Creations - Art Vs Art" will feature works that reveal the value and identity of contemporary art in various media, reflect the special characteristics of Hong Kong, and look into the city's future. Selected works by Hong Kong artists will be on display.

Mr Tsang will leave for Harbin in the afternoon to continue his visit to Heilongjiang Province in China and Vladivostok in Russia.

Hong Kong stages more than 55 events and activities during the Expo period, which includes an exciting performing arts programme, exhibitions, seminars, and major promotional activities for the tourism, design and branding, and film sectors.
