Visitors at the 44th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE) enjoyed a fun-filled Christmas Day today (December 25) with Expo mascot Haibao at "Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo" Fun Day (Fun Day).

The Fun Day, organised by the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau of the HKSARG in collaboration with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong and China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Limited, was held on the centre stage of the HKBPE at Victoria Park as part of the Government's drive to publicise Hong Kong's participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo).

The two-hour programme featured a host of Shanghai Expo-themed games, as well as performances by local pop singers.

Haibao, the Shanghai Expo mascot, showed up to encourage public support for Expo 2010.

Officiating guests of the Fun Day included Deputy Director, Ticketing Center, Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Co-ordination, Ms Zhao Lei; Expo Co-ordinator, Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, Mr Victor Ng; President of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Mr Paul Yin; and Director and General Manager of China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Limited, Mr Zhou Laiwei.

An array of activities are being lined up to raise people's awareness of Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo.

This includes a "Connect to Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo" Pavilion at the HKBPE to introduce to the public the Shanghai Expo and highlight Hong Kong's participation in the mega event; a "Connect to Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo" game zone and the "HKBPE : Best Wishes to Expo 2010 Shanghai China" for the public to send their best wishes to Shanghai Expo and to show their support of Hong Kong's participation in the mega event.

Upcoming activities include a pre-expo forum in Hong Kong on January 21 to tie in with the 100-day countdown to Expo. Policymakers, academics, professionals and Government officials from Shanghai, New York and Hong Kong will join the forum under the theme "Vertical Density, the Public Dimension : Dialogue between Hong Kong - Shanghai - New York".

Hong Kong's Expo involvement covers four aspects: constructing and operating a stand-alone pavilion under the theme of "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential" to showcase the infinite imagination and creativity of Hong Kong; taking part in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) exhibition with "Smart Card.Smart City.Smart Life" as the theme; organising a series of activities and performances in and outside Expo site during the Expo period; and building a "virtual pavilion" as well as a "virtual UBPA exhibition" for the Expo Shanghai Online project to provide netizens with a realistic, virtual experience of Hong Kong's participation.

Shanghai Expo will be held from May 1 to October 31, 2010.

More than 240 countries, cities and international organisations including Hong Kong will participate in the mega event, which is expected to attract 70 million visitors from the Mainland and worldwide.
