Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan and other great voices sing HK's Expo theme song (with photos)

Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo), Hong Kong Ambassador, Jacky Cheung, has led a group of well-known singing talents to record the Cantonese version of a new song that will become the musical theme of Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo.

Another well-known star, Eason Chan, will sing the Putonghua and English versions of the theme song.

Jacky Cheung, Eric Suen, Kay Tse, Hins Cheung, Keeva Mak and band Mr. have already recorded the song. A short promotional video will be broadcast on local TV channels from this week.

The song – "A City with Unlimited Potential"– was composed by Eric Suen with Cantonese lyrics by Chan Siu-kei.

RTHK was responsible for overall co-ordination of the production of the theme song including the short promotional videos.

The song echoes the theme of the Hong Kong Pavilion at Shanghai Expo and pays tribute to the core values and attributes of Hong Kong as Asia's world city.

Jacky Cheung said he was delighted to play a part in promoting Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo, and was looking forward to visiting the Hong Kong Pavilion and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area Exhibition during the six-month Expo period.

The music video and song will also be uploaded onto Hong Kong's Expo website www.hkexpo2010.gov.hk .

Hong Kong's Expo involvement covers four aspects:

- Constructing a stand-alone pavilion under the theme "Hong Kong
- Potential Unlimited" to showcase the infinite imagination and creativity of Hong Kong and its people

- Participating in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) Exhibition under the theme "Smart Card. Smart City. Smart Life" to demonstrate how smart cards and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies have made city life easier and more efficient

- Organising activities, events and performances inside and outside the Expo site before and during the Expo period

- Developing a virtual Hong Kong pavilion and a virtual UBPA exhibition for the Expo Shanghai Online project to provide netizens with a realistic and virtual experience of Hong Kong's presence at the Expo.

Shanghai Expo will run from May 1 to October 31. More than 240 countries, cities and international organisations including Hong Kong will participate in the mega event.
